DescriptionThe 676000100 EL Panel Inverter is a power converter which accepts a DC input, of nominally 24V, and generates an AC output of nominally 103V and a frequency of 400Hz when connected to an appropriate EL load. The unit employs a resonant technique to generate the (sinusoidal) AC output and is capable of driving a fixed Electroluminescent panel with a typical area of 1.3 sq meters (dependant upon EL panel parameters). The load capacitance of the EL panel forms part of the resonant circuit and the output voltage and frequency are thus highly dependent upon load characteristics. The unit draws a nominal input current of 3.2A DC but also draws peaks of up to 4.5A with a start up requirement of up to 6A. The unit is housed in a folded sheet aluminium case with 15mm wide mounting flanges on each end. Electrical connections are made via a single flying lead and connector. The connector details are shown below. There is an internal potentiometer for initial adjustment of the output voltage and thus EL light output level. This enables the user to balance adjacent EL panel light outputs. A feedback circuit ensures that the output setting is maintained for fluctuations in the input voltage. Reverse polarity input protection, surges and spike protection are also included. Output open circuit and short circuit protection are provided. |
