Description
The General Purpose Output CAN Node provides an ‘off the shelf’ solution for controlling 24V loads on fighting vehicles via CAN. The use of smart power switching technology allows for node protection and fault detection and reporting. The CAN interface enables a fully distributed power control architecture to be implemented significantly reducing harness requirements over conventional switching architectures.
The unit is also provided with a limited capability to read discrete inputs.
Features
- 16 outputs at a nominal output current of 3A (resistive load). Higher power output can be switched by connecting the outputs in parallel, subject to the maximum node dissipation limit
- Each output channel performs the functions of a switch and a protection device
- Outputs are protected against, Over current, Over Temperature and Short circuit. Status feedback to processor.
- Open circuit load detection
- An over temperature detection circuit to ensure the maximum dissipation for the node is not exceeded
- 8 inputs configured for switch to 0V with wetting currents
- Galvanically isolated CAN 2.0B interface. Supports MilCAN, CANopen, J1939 and other Higher Layer Protocols.
- RS232 interface supporting full duplex communication. This interface is also used to up-load new program or configuration data to the node.
- Bus enabled ETI and serial number record is provided within the node
- Built In Test
